LOVE Island has had some explosive moments happen in its eight series run, and 2022 was no exception to that rule.
Last season, Faye Winter’s treatment of boyfriend Teddy Soares got the most Ofcom complaints in the series history with a record 25,000 complaints – but it’s not the only moment that has got fans picking up their phones in fury.

From Maura Higgins clambering all over Tommy Fury like he was a beefy climbing frame to poor Dani Dyer sobbing, there has been plenty of outrage-generating drama.
Over 1,500 viewers contacted Ofcom this year, after Tasha Ghouri was left upset following Snog, Marry, Pie. There was also an uproar after Movie Night, with a whopping 2,648 complaints coming in.
Here we take a look back at the villa’s most complained-about moments of all time…
Movie Night drama
LOVE Island came under fire after Ekin-Su and George’s Movie Night backlash.
Viewers complained to Ofcom after their moment in bed in Casa Amor was aired in front of the other islanders.
Ofcom said: “Love Island, 15 July, The majority of complaints related to footage of Ekin-Su and George during Casa Amor.”
The moment sparked another row between Ekin-Su and her partner Davide who called her “a liar” after she insisted that nothing intimate happened with the bombshell.
A huge 2,648 viewers complained and were angered by “alleged misogynistic behaviour by some of the male contestants” during the episode.

Snog, Marry, Pie
Over 1,500 viewers contacted Ofcom after the Snog, Marry, Pie episode, with most of the upset sparked by the boys’ misogynistic behaviour towards the girls in the aftermath of the game.
Things got really heated when Dami Hope chose to kiss his Casa Amor ex Summer to the shock of Indiyah Polack.

He then tried to marry Indiyah but she was having none of it and threw the ring into the swimming pool.
But it was the treatment of Tasha which left viewers feeling really upset and angry.
Tasha was pied three times in total – by Davide Sanclimenti, Dami and Luca – with each giving their reasons for doing so.
Not So Fun Aftersun
ITV stepped in to defend Aftersun and Love Island host Laura Whitmore, after she received hundreds of complaints.
Jacques O’Neill decided to quit the villa, after admitting he didn’t feel like himself.
He was coupled up with Paige Thorne, but she moved on with Adam Collard after he left the show and ahead of his chat with Laura on Aftersun, a clip was played of Paige and Adam kissing.

“Laura is the presenter of the show, and part of that role is to pose questions to the panel and discuss events in the villa,” ITV said.
“‘We do not condone trolling against either our host or our Islanders and any subsequent elevation of these comments,” they added to Metro.co.uk.
Curtis Pritchard’s Casa Amor fallout

Bungling Curtis Pritchard unleashed all manner of hell on Amy Hart in 2019 when their cute relationship turned into a car crash.
The air stewardess was planning to tell Curtis she had fallen in love with him after being reunited for the first time since Casa Amor.
But he confessed he had tried to pursue the lovely Jourdan instead – who turned him down. Oh mate.
Amy was devastated and so were many viewers – with 314 lodging complaints with the TV watchdog.

Finn’s ‘fake news’ headline
In one of the more brutal rounds on Love Island couples get shown headlines from articles about them.
However, like a semi-pro football version of Donald Trump, Finn Tapp was left crying “fake news” after one was shown suggesting his head was turned in Casa Amor.
In fact, he was good as gold but Paige Turley believed the article (which, we should add, wasn’t from The Sun).
Needless to say mayhem and accusations ensued and 544 people complained.

Gemma and Davide’s age-gap snog
Gemma Owen and Davide Sanclimenti caused a furore early into this series when they shared a kiss – with viewers outraged over their eight age-gap.
The smooch between the 19 year-old and the Italian, 27, generated 200 Ofcom complaints.
On the second day in the villa, the pair shared a kiss during one of the challenges, leaving viewers unhappy.
But Ofcom confirmed they were not investigating the incident.

Georgia Steele and Jack Fowler’s kiss
Sparking 655 complaints was the moment Georgia Steel and Jack Fowler kissed after their date.
Laura hunted her down and accused her of turning an innocent kiss on the cheek into something much more steamy.
The clip was replayed again and again, VAR style, to find out who was at fault after Georgia denied trying to make a move.
Laura fumed: “My best mate has gone behind my back and tried to snog the guy I’m coupled up with.”

Maura pounces on Tommy
No-nonsense Maura might be best pals with Tommy’s girlfriend Molly-Mae Hague but in 2019 she was all over him like a duvet on a cold night.
The 30-year-old Irish model’s intense pursuit of the boxer outraged fans as she was seen straddling and trying to kiss him.
He was heard saying no and trying to swerve the kiss, with one viewer tweeting: “Maura is like a bloody predator. Forcing herself on Tommy like that is wrong.”
In the end, 709 people complained – but Tommy wasn’t one of them and they went on to be very close pals.

Joe and Lucy ‘controlling’ row
Joe Garratt was forced to defend himself after he told Lucie he was uncomfortable about her “strange” and “disrespectful” friendship with Tommy Fury (him again!)
He was accused of treating her badly but later told The Sun: “I didn’t manipulate or abuse her.
“I am gutted that it has been perceived in that way because it wasn’t like that at all.”
The moment racked up more than 600 Ofcom complaints with people objecting to the surfer’s treatment by Joe and other Islanders.

Dani Dyer’s tears over ‘cheating’ Jack
Love Island bosses found themselves on the receiving end of some serious rage from the Dani Dyer fan club in 2018.
Producers thought it would be a great wheeze to show her a clip of boyfriend Jack Fincham looking like his head has been turned by an ex.
Of course, nothing of the sort was going on as Dani broke down in floods of tears.
Meanwhile, 2,644 complained to Ofcom that this next kind of behaviour was very much not their type on paper – making it Love Island’s most-complained about moment.

Faye Winter lets rip at Teddy
Back in August 2021 Love Island was hit with a record 24,763 Ofcom complaints from fans infuriated by Faye’s “toxic” meltdown.
Faye went mad during last year’s movie night when a clip was shown of partner Teddy admitting he found another islander attractive.
The incident, which saw Faye swear and scream in partner Teddy Soare’s face, is the most complained about moment in the show’s history.
Viewers branded the uncomfortable clash “toxic” and “difficult to watch”.
